UGC-NET IN OBJECTIVE MODE FROM JUNE, 2012 ONWARDS

1.
The UGC-NET will be conducted in objective mode from June 2012 onwards. The Test will consist of three papers. All the three papers will consist of only objective type questions and will be held on the day of Examination in two separate sessions as under:

Only such candidates who obtain the minimum required marks in each Paper, separately, as mentioned above, will be considered for final preparation of result.
However, the final qualifying criteria for Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) and eligibility for Lectureship shall be decided by UGC before declaration of result.
   
3.
The syllabi of Paper-I, Paper-II and Paper-III will remain the same.
   
4.
The candidates will be allowed to carry the carbon printout of OMR Response Sheets with them on conclusion of the examination.
   
5.
There will be no negative marking.

Eligibility
The minimum qualification for all candidates shall be Post Graduate degree/ diploma or its equivalent with a minimum of 55% aggregate marks recognized by an Indian University or Association of Indian Universities (AIU). The relaxation of 5% marks at the Masters Degree (P.G) eligibility criterion shall be given to candidates belonging to SC/ST/PD category as per the guidelines of UGC.

The candidates applying to M.Phil (NRM) programme should have post graduate degree or its equivalent in the field of Science/ Engineering / Management and related Social sciences. (The equivalence will be decided by the Institute).

The candidates from outside India SAARC/Foreign countries who have obtained their masters degree from any university, outside India must provide the equivalence of the eligibility requirement which shall be 55% marks at masters Degree (PG level).

Rajendra Memorial Research Institute of Medical Sciences (RMRIMS) is holding pre Ph.D. registration test on 25th Feb.2012 for interested candidates who have to work at RMRIMS and get registered for Ph.D. from Calcutta Univ. The RMRIMS has been affiliated with Univ. of Calcutta and T. M. Bhagalpur Univ. for Ph.D. registration and award of Degree. The Institute encompasses research on broad interdisciplinary areas of (1) Biochemistry, (2) Biostatistics, (3) Bioinformatics and Drug Discovery, (4) Clinical Medicine, (5) Entomology, (6) Epidemiology, (7) Immunology, (8) Microbiology, (9) Molecular Biology, (10) Cell Biology etc. The candidate qualified eligibility test for JRF in CSIR-NET/DBT/ICMR is exempted from the written test. However, they will require filling the form and to appear in the interview and course work.

Total number of seats available: 18 (UR-9, OBC-5, SC-3, ST-1). The number of seats is tentative, subjected to change at any time by competent authority.

Minimum Qualification:
A. Students having 55% or above marks in minimum essential qualification (M. B. B. S.* or M.Sc/ M.Tech/ M. Pharm. in Biotechnology/ Biochemistry/ Microbiology/ Statistics/ Zoology/ Life Sciences or equivalent recognized by UGC, India) are eligible to apply for this exam. However, SC/ST candidates having 50% or more marks in above mentioned degree are eligible to apply.

B. Candidates appearing in final examination to secure minimum essential qualification this year may also apply; they will be admitted provisionally pending and satisfactory fulfilment of the above requirements at the time of joining will be needed.

*The candidate having M.B.B.S. degree should have three publications as first author in peer reviewed International journals of the relevant discipline prior to registration.

Selection procedure:
A. Candidates fulfilling minimum requirements will be invited for a written qualifying test at their own expenses on 25th Feb. 2012 at RMRIMS, Patna.

B. The written test is aimed at evaluating their knowledge in the respective field, abilities to comprehend, analyse and reason based on given syllabus (on the website).

C. Result of qualified candidates will be available on the website of the Institute/ICMR as well as the notice board of the Institute. Passed candidates will be called for interview.

D. Selected candidate will be enrolled for the PhD programme of RMRIMS, in academic affiliation with University of Calcutta.

E. Reservations as per statutory norms.

Ph.D. programme:
No stipend will be provided to the passed candidates from the Institute; however, preference will be given if any project comes to the Institute. Moreover, students will be appreciated to manage their own fellowship. Hostel accommodation will be available to both boys and girls student subject to the availability.

A. Application should be typed/written in times new roman on A4-size plain paper in the format given below.

B. Every column should be essentially filled.

C. Each page of the application form and documents should be signed by candidate.

D. Completed application must be accompanied with the crossed demand draft for Rs. 300/- of six months validity in favour of Director RMRIMS, Patna, payable at Patna. A demand draft for 200/- is acceptable from SC/ST candidate, provided relevant documentary proof is enclosed. The drafts are not refundable.

E. Copies of the certificates or mark sheets SHOULD BE enclosed with the application (self certified).

F. Two recent passport size photographs should be enclosed.
One of these should be signed by the candidate and pasted on the application form.
G. Two self-addressed stamped (Rs.5/-) envelope of 10 cm x 22 cm should also be enclosed.
