Applications have been invited by Raman Research Institute, Bangalore for admission to Ph.D Programme of the Academic Year 2012.

Candidates must have a first class MSc degree in Physics or first class BE / BTech degree in Engineering. Students who expect to complete their final degree in the academic year 2011-12 may also apply. Reservations for SC/ST/OBC candidates will be as per norms.

The selection of the candidates for the PhD program will be based on the performance in the interviews to be held at RRI, Bangalore around second week of June 2012.

Candidates will be selected for interview based on:
(a) Their performance in the Joint Entrance Screening Test 2012 (JEST 2012). These students need not apply separately to RRI. JEST-2012 will be held at several centres throughout the country and is being administered by the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore.

(b) Students qualified in CSIR-NET for JRF or with GATE or Advanced GRE (in the relevant subject) score need to apply directly to RRI using the application form that can be downloaded from RRI website or can be requested from the Admissions office of RRI.

Eligibility:
• Candidates with requisite qualifications may be drawn from any of the streams listed below:
Full Time MBA or Full Time PGDM or Part Time MBA (duration of the Program in case of FT MBA & PGDM should not be less than 24 months) or notified by AIU as equivalent to MBA of an University or Masters Degree in any relevant discipline like Commerce / Economics / Statistics / Psychology / Sociology / IT / Engineering etc, or professional qualifications like CA/CS/CWA, etc.

MBA through Distance or correspondence mode will not be eligible to apply.

• Minimum 60% marks or equivalent grade in the qualifying examination
• With at least 5 years full time work experience in executive or supervisory capacity (out of which atleast 2 years work experience should be after obtaining Masters degree)
• The candidates who wish to attend the Ph.D Programme Full Time are exempted from the requirement of work experience.
• The experience should be full time experience and will NOT include part time experience, internships, projects, etc.

Academic Requirements:
• The Ph.D Program at NMIMS will be offered in three parts: (i) Course Work ii) Research Component (iii) Thesis
• Selected candidates will have to undergo prescribed courses. Exam will be conducted at the end of course work and candidate has to obtain 60% in each of the courses to register for Ph.D
• Course Work will include tools & substantive knowledge

Selection Process:
All candidates will be required to go through a three-stage selection process:
• Candidates have to send application fees through Demand Draft for the programme, along with a two-page 'Statement of Purpose'. Statement of Purpose should briefly describe the area of research interest.
• All candidates will be required to appear for a written Research Aptitude Test.
• Candidates short-listed after the written test will be invited to make a presentation to a team of experts, based on their 'Statement of Purpose'. The presentation will be followed by an interview.

Rajendra Memorial Research Institute of Medical Sciences (RMRIMS) is holding pre Ph.D. registration test on 25th Feb.2012 for interested candidates who have to work at RMRIMS and get registered for Ph.D. from Calcutta Univ. The RMRIMS has been affiliated with Univ. of Calcutta and T. M. Bhagalpur Univ. for Ph.D. registration and award of Degree. The Institute encompasses research on broad interdisciplinary areas of (1) Biochemistry, (2) Biostatistics, (3) Bioinformatics and Drug Discovery, (4) Clinical Medicine, (5) Entomology, (6) Epidemiology, (7) Immunology, (8) Microbiology, (9) Molecular Biology, (10) Cell Biology etc. The candidate qualified eligibility test for JRF in CSIR-NET/DBT/ICMR is exempted from the written test. However, they will require filling the form and to appear in the interview and course work.

Total number of seats available: 18 (UR-9, OBC-5, SC-3, ST-1). The number of seats is tentative, subjected to change at any time by competent authority.

Minimum Qualification:
A. Students having 55% or above marks in minimum essential qualification (M. B. B. S.* or M.Sc/ M.Tech/ M. Pharm. in Biotechnology/ Biochemistry/ Microbiology/ Statistics/ Zoology/ Life Sciences or equivalent recognized by UGC, India) are eligible to apply for this exam. *The candidate having M.B.B.S. degree should have three publications as first author in peer reviewed International journals of the relevant discipline prior to registration.

A. Candidates fulfilling minimum requirements will be invited for a written qualifying test at their own expenses on 25th Feb. 2012 at RMRIMS, Patna.

No stipend will be provided to the passed candidates from the Institute; however, preference will be given if any project comes to the Institute. Applications have been invited by Indian Institute of Management, Lucknow for admission to Doctoral Programme (Fellow Programme in Management) commencing in June 2012.

Eligibility:
The applicants must have one of the following qualifications obtained from any of the universities incorporated by an act of the central or state legislature in India or other educational institutions established by an act of parliament or declared to be deemed as a university under section 3 of UGC Act, 1956, or possess an equivalent qualification recognized by the Ministry of HRD, Government of India, or an equivalent qualification from an institution approved by AICTE.

A Masters’ degree or its equivalent in any discipline with minimum 55% aggregate marks.

OR

A Bachelors Degree in Engineering with 60% marks or equivalent grade point average.

OR

Any professional qualifications such as CA, ICWA and CS with a minimum 55% aggregate marks.

In addition, all the candidates must have secured a minimum of 55 % marks in all their public examinations starting with the secondary level. Work experience in industry or academics, though not mandatory, will be given due credit in the selection process

Those who are appearing for their final year examination in the current academic year may also apply. However, their admission to the programme will be provisional subject to their successful completion of all requirements for obtaining the relevant degree before 30 June 2012.

Age Limit:
Candidates must not be more than 45 years of age as on 30th June 2012.

Selection Process:
Candidates who fulfill the eligibility criteria stated above are required to take Common Admission Test (CAT) held by the IIMs. Alternatively, those who have qualified GATE, GRE, GMAT and JRF (UGC/CSIR) examinations can also apply in the relevant area of specialization. Scores of any of these examinations including CAT taken during the last two years (i.e., on or after 01 July, 2010) will be considered valid. Candidates who have already obtained a two-year PGDM from any of the IIMs with a minimum CGPA of 6.0 on a 10 point scale are exempted from this requirement, and can apply directly through the prescribed Application Form. Such applicants are also eligible to get a waiver of the first year course work and can directly join the second year of the programme.

The candidates short-listed on the basis of their academic record and performance in the competitive examinations mentioned above will be called to Lucknow for a special test and personal interview for final selection in April 2012 and the successful candidates will receive offers by mid-May 2012.

Admission to the programme is open to overseas candidates including NRIs and foreign nationals. Their admission will be based on GMAT/GRE scores obtained within previous one year.

Reservation for eligible categories will be as per Government of India rules applicable for doctoral programme at the time of admission.

A candidate is eligible to submit applications to a maximum of two areas. In such cases, two sets of the application form, one for each area, with all supporting documents (including copies of mark sheet and certificates of all public examinations starting from 10th, experience certificate, relevant score card, age proof, etc) attached separately with each form may be sent together in one envelope. Completed application forms along with a draft of Rs. 500/- (Rs. 250/- for SC/ST candidates) drawn in favor of IIM Lucknow payable at Lucknow should be sent to the following address.
